Nappy Care, Intimate Care & Hygiene Audit & Improvement Toolkit

Nappy Care, Intimate Care & Hygiene Audit & Improvement Toolkit

Are you confident that your nappy changing practice would stand up to inspection scrutiny — not just on paper, but in practice?

The Nappy Care, Intimate Care & Hygiene Audit & Improvement Toolkit has been designed specifically for Early Learning and Childcare settings in Scotland, aligned with the Care Inspectorate’s updated nappy changing guidance, infection prevention principles, and the Health and Social Care Standards.

This is more than a compliance checklist.

This comprehensive pack supports managers and teams to review both:

Regulatory compliance – ensuring your environment, documentation, infection control procedures and staff training meet current expectations.✔ Quality of practice – evaluating the child’s lived experience, dignity, safeguarding awareness and relational care during intimate care routines.

The toolkit includes:

  • A fully structured Compliance Audit Tool

  • A detailed Practice Quality Observation Audit

  • Clear links to safeguarding and infection prevention standards

Designed for use ahead of inspection, during internal quality assurance cycles, or as part of improvement planning, this toolkit enables you to move beyond “ticking boxes” and towards safe, respectful, child-centred practice.

Whether you are preparing for scrutiny, strengthening safeguarding processes, or embedding consistent standards across your setting, this pack provides a clear, professional framework to support meaningful improvement.
